Gaps in Wikipedia because of politics?

Today I've been reading an interesting part of history on nuclear reaction in the book "Pandora's Hope" by Bruno Latour. The reason I'm reading this is related to innovation study I'm conducting. The part goes about the research of Jean Frédéric Joliot who is working on chain reaction in 1939. Now of course I was very interested how this is related to the Manhattan Project.

Demo jqselect in node_access

For one of our modules called "node_access.module" (yes, the function and table exist, this is an expansion of it) we wanted an advanced multi-select. My college Wouter has created a pragmatic implementation 1/2 year ago. In the last weeks I finally got the time to refractor it.

Non-linear Phenomena, Complex Systems, & Statistical Mechanics

Topic:

Today there was the meeting of the FNRS contact group wit the same title as this post. A good question my be what I as a programming modeling researcher was doing in a conference of physics. Well it actually remind me of the same situation I had when going to the ASSC8 conferenece on consciousness or the relation I have with my department on economics. It all gets down to understanding the environment my information models have to be verified against.

Sprint November - December

Topic:

With our knosos project we have a sprint evaluation every month. It seams a good time to blog about my development and the plans of next month. Last month our pilot project started and I have been adding some small features to groups (like delete of groups and subgroups) as well as a expansion of the subscribe module. I had to hack the subscription module to make it work with our architecture, so again it will be functionalities hard to make a sepreate module for.

Govern Innovation

Topic:

This week I had an interesting discussions with two professors of my research group, the topic was related to Business information management (BIM). The first talk with professor E. Torfs was an overview of the BIM-course on IT-governance it was an amazing interesting contribution for my research as it helped me frame my attempts on understanding "innovation" in relation to the control system I've been invesitgating the last years. The new concept was "governance", seeing how it got applied to IT made me think of it as a example of the more general control process going on behind the scene.

Drupal@Brussels

Topic:

Today we had a interesting Drupal meeting. There were very interesting plans: give more visualization of Drupal use in Belgium by the .be site, creating a "drupal-only" web/content-service company and we have been brainstorming on several other interesting topics as scrum for project development, the multi-language issue etc. Now to the actions ;)

It is interesting how several topic come back all the time. Today again there was the "need for developers" issue. I have been contacted by some people now that look for experienced developers (good luck finding them).

Double posting

Topic:

This blog is posted double. It is actually the first and I hope not too many duplicating post have to be created. The reason is related to our development of "access" to content. In the past 10 months we have been developing a "node access" (Drupal) module for KNOSOS. The idea is to give users flexibility to there contend publication. Currently the module allows you to define the access level of your content and gives you a tool to direct your content to an audience.

Reworking my personal site

Topic:

Let me tell you the story behind this personal webspace. I had a small experiment with creating my personal site two years ago. It actually started out as investigation of frames, I didn't know at that time frames are out dated. For 10 months I work on the Knosos project and have learned Drupal and other good web-tools. This time I'm planing not to use my personal-site as to test web-technology ( .... well ... it won't be the focus), but to use it as better way to express myself. I actualy planed this several months ago, but had troble with my provider (I switched now).
